Disorders in Mitochondrial Genome: Neuro-Muscular Diseases, Aging and Cancer Progress

Abstract
Recent progresses in mitochondrial genetics reveals that various degenerative diseases may be caused by the mutations in mtDNA, which eventually defect in oxidative phosphorylation. These mitochondrial abnormalities include many of neuro-muscular
diseases, and age-related diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease and Diabetes mellitus. Progress of cancer might also be related with the mitochondrial malfunctions. Mitochondrial mutations could be
introduced by
either maternal inheretance or spontaneous occurrence. Accumulations of the spontaneously defected mitochondrial genomes during life time might be responsible for aging Knowledges of .the molecular basis of these mitochondrial mutations could
lead
us to
develop the way of the diagnosis and theraphy for the mitochondrial diseases.
